Shut Up and Play the Hits is part concert movie, part behind the scenes reveal; along with select footage from the three-and-a-half-hour extravaganza, the flick will show us front man James Murphy in the day leading up to, and the day after, the show.
LCD Soundsystem played its final show at Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had made the conscious decision to disband one of the most celebrated and influential bands of its generation at the peak of its popularity, ensuring that the band would go out on top with the biggest and most ambitious concert of its career.
With fly-on-the-wall access, Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace’s concert film captures the final 48 hours of a band in complete control of its destiny. The film also features some footage by director Spike Jonze and narration from music journalist and novelist Chuck Klosterman.
